Research and Teaching Assistant / PhD Candidate
At the University of Geneva, Geneva School of Economics and Management (GSEM), we are recruiting a Research and Teaching Assistant / PhD candidate in Strategic Management.
We are active in research, teaching, and executive education in strategic management. Our research focuses on strategic leadership and corporate governance (CEOs, functional senior executives, top management teams, boards of directors), as well as corporate strategy (corporate headquarters, diversification). We collaborate actively with large corporations and leading business schools around the world. Our objective is to publish impactful studies in highly ranked international academic and practitioner journals.
The successful candidate is expected to write a doctoral thesis and to participate in our research activities. The doctoral thesis is going to be under the supervision of Professor Dr. Markus Menz. The candidate will be asked to support our teaching and executive education activities, and to engage in projects of our School.
The candidate must hold a Master’s degree in management or a related field and should have some prior work experience. He or she should have excellent analytical skills and the self-discipline to complete a doctoral thesis. An interest in quantitative empirical methods and prior experience with statistical programs such as STATA or R would be a plus.
Excellent written and oral skills in English are essential; knowledge of French and/or German is a plus.
July 1st, 2020 (or upon mutual agreement).
The chosen candidate will initially be hired at 100% on a 1-year contract renewable, with a maximum duration of 5 years. The first 3 months constitute a trial period with a 1-month notice.
